Car accidents can be a scary thing. One minute the individual is driving down the street, and the next minute, disaster strikes. Perhaps another car veers into one’s path, or perhaps a child or animal runs in front of the vehicle. Either way, the result is the same; there is a crash, and Colorado law enforcement is called to the scene. As a part of their normal routine, law enforcement will investigate the cause of the accident and look for the possibility of a DUI/DUID/DWAI being involved.

Recently, for some unknown reason, a 22-year-old driver ran into a car on the side of the road. The impact of this threw him into the garage of a nearby home where he crashed into two additional parked cars. Fortunately, there were no injuries involved; however, the driver does appear to have used impaired judgment in his decision to leave the scene of the accident. He was quickly apprehended, and officers claim that there is a possibility that excessive speed and alcohol were contributing factors.

There is no indication as to whether field sobriety tests or blood alcohol tests were performed. Additionally, no details regarding visibility or other contributing factors that could have played a part in this accident have been indicated. The driver is currently facing DUI/DUID/DWAI charges.

When one is arrested for DUI/DUID/DWAI in Colorado, he or she will want experienced legal counsel working on the case. While each situation is different, it is important that the facts and evidence in each case be thoroughly reviewed. Then, an appropriate defense strategy can be formed prior to appearing in a court of law.
