Car accidents can happen at any time of the day or night for a variety of different reasons. While the goal of police officers to hold drivers who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol accountable is understandable in certain situations, their zeal can often lead to assumptions not always supported by evidence. Unfortunately, a man in Colorado is now accused of DUID following a recent crash.

The incident happened on a day in early October. Police reports claim that a 35-year-old male was speeding when the vehicle left the roadway. The vehicle reportedly entered the parking lot of an apartment complex.

The car is said to have struck a parked car before coming to a stop in an occupied apartment. The residents were not injured but were displaced as a result of the damage to the building. The alleged driver of the vehicle now is accused of multiple traffic violations, including DUID and DUI.

Anyone who has driven in Colorado is likely aware of how quickly an accident can happen, even when the driver involved is completely alert. It is unclear what evidence supports the allegations that the man reportedly involved in this accident was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. To help him respond to the DUI and DUID allegations against him, he may choose to hire an experienced attorney who can help him examine the evidence, ensuring that he is fully prepared to make informed decisions about the direction of his case. This could include accepting a plea deal for a reduced charge and/or sentence or fighting the accusations in court.
