When movies and television shows portray high speed chases, they are often filled with fast cars, making daring moves and placing the lives of many at risk. However, police in Colorado claim that they were involved in a “chase” of a different sort. The end result, however, is that a driver was taken into custody, suspected of DUI.
The alleged incident started around noon on a day in mid-December. Police claim they received reports of a driver behaving in a way that indicated he or she may have been intoxicated. State troopers reportedly began chasing the vehicle on Interstate 70.
However, police say that the driver continued driving. Although described as a chase, reports indicate that speeds did not reach higher than the 70s. Reports claim that the chase ended approximately an hour later, but details regarding its conclusion are unclear. The driver was taken into custody.
Many people in Colorado who are suspected or accused of a crime are unsure of their rights. The process following an investigation and arrest can be overwhelming for those unfamiliar with it and may result in them providing information that may ultimately be misconstrued by police and detrimental to their case. For those accused of DUI and other crimes, having an experienced criminal defense attorney on their side can provide them some degree of peace of mind as they navigate the system. Such a professional can ensure they are aware of the decisions they make and fully understand the implications of each of their options.
