One man is facing several charges related to drinking and driving in Colorado. The charges on DUI/DUID/DWAI stem from a vehicle crash that occurred on a recent Friday night. The crash took place at about 10:15 p.m.
The collision happened at an intersection. Police said one car was going south on a road and ended up running a red light. That is when the car hit a Jeep vehicle that was heading west on an expressway.
The Jeep driver, a woman who is 68 years old, was ejected from her vehicle. She suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, where officials said her injuries were not life-threatening. A passenger in her vehicle suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash. The car driver, 20, also suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital before being arrested, while a passenger in his car had to be freed from the car and suffered minor injuries. The car driver now faces charges of DUI and vehicular assault along with other traffic charges.
People who faces charges of DUI/DUID/DWAI in Colorado may decide to go to trial and strive to be found not guilty of their charges. Otherwise, they may determine that accepting a plea deal will lead to reduced charges and thus a more personally favorable sentence. Either way, an accused person’s criminal defense will strive for an outcome that is in the individual’s best interests while simultaneously ensuring that his or her rights are honored throughout the criminal proceeding.
